I am test driving a 2002 V70 XC today-- the seller has honestly told me that the transmission shifts unevenly - I am taking a friend that is a mechanic (he doesn't have Volvo expertise though). I told him about the tranny and we are going to put the car on a lift as we check it out.
So here are my questions:
1. while on the lift, other than oil leaks, what should we be looking for?
2. while test driving, what are signs of a severe tranmission problem vs. using the flush, etc. to correct the uneven shifting.
3. Any other thoughts....?
Thanks!!!
2002 V70 XC Test Drive
FYI......had a deal on a Ridgeline to dump the XC in January. Why do I still have the Volvo? The wholesaler taking my car in the deal dropped from his 15K commitment (OUCH!) to 8K (FO!) when I got there to exchange. V70 currently having new engine installed......so I know of what I speak. I've said this before, I'll say it again. The Volvo you & I know & love is dead. This P2 Swedish Audi crap should be avoided by us all at all costs.......but I'd still kill for a clean 855 T5M!

Sorry for your bad fortune..... I'm pricing a new civic right now - as well a Mazda3 (2006) - 2k more than the volvo I was looking at. I don't NEED the AWD so I'm dropping that thought..... thanks for the reality check!
