built in phone wont work

hi i have a built in phone in my v70 and it wont recognise my sim out of my mobile??
does it have to be a certain type??
my sim is an o2 but when i put it in and turn it on it says bt celnet on the display???
i have called the house phone but it rings but no one can hear anything either end???
please help it is doing my head in!!!!

For US we got an analog phone but Europe got GSM from the start as that was already the system in use in Europe.

You may have a faulty SIM or the SIM contacts are cruddy. The phone in car does require the full size SIM and not the mini SIM that is about 1/4 in. by 3/8 in.
We don't get Euro tech notes in US for accessory features not in this market. There may be an upgrade to PHM for new SIM types. Ask a Volvo dealer. It will not be a free upgrade if there is one.
The fact you can complete a call even without voice means your phone is making a handshake with the network.
