Grounding system check

Post by Xilikon »

I replaced two ground straps (both are corroded and one of them even snapped in half) linked between top of the engine and the firewall/frame. I wonder if there are other straps to check in the engine bay ?

Also, I see the negative battery cable have 2 wires, 1 tied to the frame near the battery frame and another assumed to be tied to the engine or transmission casing. Is there more ?

I wanted to work all this so the electrical system is in top shape after living thru a bad starter, bad battery, bad B+ cable and bad alternator in a few weeks span.
2000 V70 XC SE with 150,000 miles, still going great !

As far as the main grounds go you have them covered. There are dozens of other ground points for individual items throughout the car though.

Exactly, you really need to look over the whole car to find them all.
