Super frustrated with my 1998 v70xc. Did an upper end rebuild with a new head and gasket as well as an entire PCV system replacement. Still have what seems like way too much forced air coming through the top to the point where the top tube keeps blowing off. When it's on tight I am getting pressure (smoke) coming up via the dipstick tube. Today I redid the entire PCV system thinking I may have missed the lower ports. They were clear, its all back together now and I am having the same issue. So much blow by that the hose keeps popping off. PTC seems good as well. Can I isolate the PTC by disconnecting the PCV system at the PTC? Seems like if it was a problem with the PTC, the problem would go away if I did. Why is there so much blow by that the system cant handle it? Also. I have one vacuum line that comes off the intake that I am not sure where the other end goes. It's the bottom one of the pair to the right to the fuel return line. Could that be related? I am so over this one problem. All in all the car runs great. I just need to figure this out. Thanks in advance.

Your intake manifold: one the passenger side, should be a vacuum elbow...plug that in.
Your Turbo Inlet Tube has two vacuum connections: the one connected to the MAF and Airbox has to vacuum inlets (the one on the side from the MAF) plug into the CBV. Now, directly underneath the the Turbo Inlet Tube, connects vacuum hose to Turbo Control Valve (Blue-to-blue), (Red-to-Red connects to the Turbo itself and TCV), (Yellow-toYellow connects to top of Turbo and TCV).

Underneath all the wires and hoses (just above the lower radiator hose), their is a small Purple-ish vacuum line and goes to a very small metal pipe (under or near the radiator hose), connect that to the metal pipe, and the other (purple vacuum line) end on the radiator shroad...you'll see a square metal part called solinoid check valve (I think), bottom. On the (side) of that same part, another vacuum line (white) connect that to the Idler Control (Tree) front-bottom.
Hopefully that helps you.

It's the bottom one of the pair to the right to the fuel return line.
That goes to the fuel pressure regulator. On my FWD model, that's on the frame just behind the passenger side tire. I'm not sure where it is on a '98 AWD; I believe later models have it in the back by the fuel tank.

Disconnecting the PTC will just spray oil all over and make a big vacuum leak. You may want to look into rigging up a catch can.
