Odometer Gear (Fixed)
A/C Receiver/Drier (Still Broken)
ABS Module (in theory, fixing soon)
Front axle (Caught before failure)
R/F Wheel Bearing hub (Fixed)
Catalytic converter (pipe before broke, failure also broke converter itself)
Rear Oxygen Sensor (possibly broken, related to previous issue)

Thanks to the site's Odometer Fix Tutorial, I replaced the odometer gear. Thanks for the clear concise directions, you're a lifesaver not to mention saving hundreds of dollars.

For my 1999 V70 (base model, NA, M/T), here's the big items.

Engine/Drivetrain
- Coil packs went out one by one at approx 160k.
- Steering unit blew the seals and subsequently killed my P/S box at about the same time.
- O2 sensors at 135k
- Alternator at 215k
- Torn CV boots 185k (passenger), 215k (drivers)
- Sway bar end links - 4 times under warranty then twice in the 160k since

Interior
- Driver's side power window switch, twice. At about 80k and 100k.
- Cup holder - somewhere near 120k.
- Factory CD player 180k. Speakers 200k.
- Heater blower 205k
- Heater core 215k

Add a alternator to the list of failed parts on my car.
2000 V70 XC SE with 150,000 miles, still going great !

I've got two S70s, one a turbo and one a non-turbo. Of the two, the turbo has been the most problematic with a lot of the listed failures and some that are not listed, e.g. brake master assembly @ 60K, brake booster failed @ 66K, catalytic converter failed @ 79K but dealership wouldn't acknowledge it until after 80K (when the federal emissions warranty expired - thankfully, Volvo Customer Care picked up a good deal of the cost, but left me paying $300). I just had the left sway bar link replaced when the ABS module went out a couple of months ago and this weekend I'm going to replace the wheel hub assembly.

If I were to ever buy another Volvo in the future, it would definitely be a non-turbo, turbos are not worth the aggravation. They are harder on hoses, belts, sensors, etc.

Here's one that I would think should be very common (on engines with individual coil packs) - ignition coil failure - I've replaced two in the past year.

For a less common one - broken exhaust valve (yes, broken - a piece fell off causing immediate and total loss of compression on the cylinder concerned) the diagnosis was that it was due to carbon build up causing a hot spot on the valve.
If God had meant cars to have fuel injection, he never would have given us the SU carburetter

Ignition coils (I've replaced all five, two of them twice) and door lock actuators. I'd list the cupholder but it was useless from the outset. Sorry design on that thing.

Cupholders...I've gone through a few of them and keep a couple around as spares.

Our s70 has been going through coils left and right. The 850 has been going through it's share of parts, but it is 15 years old.

Master window switch, twice.
Door check.
Everything in the front end.
a few speakers.
Fuel pump
ABS module-pump wiring
Dome light
Rear hatch wiper motor
Rusty sunroof glass/frame
All motor mounts
CD player
Rear hatch lock actuator
Evaporator
Power seat switch

And since I posted this, something will probably happen this week.
