850 sunroof issue

The sunroof on my '96 850R slides back and forth ok but will not fully close. The drivers side rear corner stays down in the slide position and won't pop up to seal or open at the rear. I have done the track hinge lube thing regularly over the years. It looks like maybe the little hinge/stay isn't working. If I can get it to fully close, the option might be to seal it in position. The whole bizzo looks inaccessible. Help please folks... thanks.

Does this include removing the glass to really get into the nooks & crannies? My guess would be to pop the glass out and ensure everything is getting lubed, and depending on the type of lube you use, clean out any gunk that's been building up over the years.

How do I pop the sunroof glass out please? That might also allow me to see the obstruction... Thanks

If you remove the plastic covers on eat side, you will see bolts to remove the glass.

Are they the (front to rear) plastic slider covers each side, on the inside of the sunroof opening? Thanks

Yup, thems the ones. They're a bit thin, but you can wiggle them and bow them out a bit to figure out how to remove them - they sorta snap into place. Each side actually has two pieces of plastic that are hinged on one end that will come out together.

Thats's great, thanks folks. I had a go at taking the glass out, looked as though the drivers side mechanism was dry and worn. The glass re-fit was challenging with the up and down, forward and back adjustments. A 2 man job really. The sunroof now opens ok but on park/water-tight position seems to go over the fulcrum. So, I have packed some foam to hold it proud as a temporary fix. I think the screen will be best sealed closed. At 260,000 kms it has had a lot of use and the mechanism seems quite worn. It joins the air-con and cruise control as 'no-go' partners. Still goes great of course (as does our other lower kms 850R) and will be in the fleet for a while yet...
