That is definitely not the part you want - as stated you have posted a picture of a filter.

The check valve does not have to match exactly, it just has to work with the vacuum pressures under the hood of your Volvo. So the Brake Servo Check Valve (in line) # 1228272 will work fine for this purpose, and for example it is under $10 at eEuroparts.com.

To MyVolvoPartsOnline;

Since you have the part (# 9445436) as a complete assembly, what are the numbers on the filters itself? Do it state "Volvo 97 T259? And how many are attached to the assembly hoses? Is it two or three?
Thanks.

You can look up the part number he gave, on a Volvo parts site. The best site for illustrations is here:

http://www.volvopartswebstore.com/showA ... bly=234701

It is number 31 in the picture, so you can see it consists of several hose pieces, 1 tee fitting, and 2 check valves.

I have a friend who chased this problem for months with his dodge van.Turned out to be a torn/cracked boot on the filler neck for his gas tank.Might be worth while to look at all the lines that return to the tank since they are the ones out in the open,so to speak.
