do i have to take off the intake pully to get the valve cover off?

Yes you will becasue of the way the pulley and valve cover overlap. I tried it once and you could probably do it, but it would be awefully ugly and generally a bad idea. Pull the pulley off, its easy enough to put back.

oh crap, i just yanked the whole thing off, i grabbed on to the far end and pulled it up till the pully cleared, i wish i would have check this earlier, thank you for your reply.

Which bolts, the ones that connect the head to the block? arggggh.

I purchased a set of cheap-o Wal-mart impact sockets for those bolts. The socket (14 mm IIRC?) fits perfectly through the holes in the upper head, in fact the socket is kept from expanding by the surrounding head material. Cheap Stanley impact sockets are rumored to be the same diameter.

My reccolection is that the reccomended sequence for the head bolts is from the center OUT.

Negative. First loosen the corners, then move inward. Best to follow a guide.

Thank you for your replys, i didn't strip the head bolt, thank god, My socket itself just ruptured on three of its sides. off to get some impact sockets.

I would gladly decapitate whomever decided the placement of the bolts on the water pump line next to the exaust maifold.
