Siren does not work

Post by BlackXC90T6AWD »

So my siren finally stopped working as in it doesnt sound and now ocasionally in the garage the alarm goes off with just the lights flashing. i checked the fuse for the alarm it's fine. I probably have to replace it, but i dont want to replace it with a volvo one how hard would it be to put in a aftermarket siren like one of those ones you see on the 90's Nissans where if you tap it they go off.

well I used to be a car security DIY expert but my info may be dated:

Replacing the siren is different than what you are describing. The siren is simply one piece of the system - the noise maker and attention getter. The tap sensor is actually called a "shock sensor".

What you need is an alarm brain (main processor, on/off/ timing, etc), and then a siren/noise maker, then you need any accessories like engine kill switch, then sensors that detect intrusion. Sensors can hook to dome lights to detect door opening or be a microphone tuned to glass breakage frequencies or a motion detector to detect towing or a shock sensor to detect tapping and smacking.

the siren on your xc90 is a control module and cannot be bypassed the battery in this unit goes bad and the siren goes off on its own usual code for this is uem0004 comm fault the siren needs to be replaced and than reconfigured by the dealer
