Replacement keys

I have two 850s in the driveway, one running (96) and one a project (95 R). For each one of them I now have only one key (the joys of running a family vehicle ...). My local dealer wants $51 each to copy the keys, parts guy says he has to send the registration info to Sweden to do it.

$50 each seems absurd, I'm hoping this is another instance of this parts counter not knowing what they are talking about - does anyone know of a cheaper place/method to get an 850 key made?

Believe it or not Superior Volvo in KC will sell you a key for $10.00 based on their eBay post. I'm tempted to walk up to the parts counter and try to get the same deal.

I'll let you know how this works out. My daughter left about 10 minutes ago with three titles in her hand to try to get duplicates cut for us at that price. On the phone they said they would honor the price at the parts counter.

Four out of the five here only have 1 key and the '99 takes a chipped key - I have not yet registered the '99 since I have yet to have time to get the head yanked off of it and get it running again.

Success!

Superior cut all three keys based on the VIN and at least 2 of them worked perfectly. I have no reason to believe my son's won't work either but he won't be around until next weekend for me to find out.

If anyone is looking for duplicate keys this is a terrific deal.
