In a situation like this, it's really difficult to maintain your composure, trust me I can relate! It sucks. I had a Scion stolen years ago. The thief was going to sell it for $500 to buy crack (the car was brand new), go figure, a crackhead. The DA will prosecute without your approval. If they have no prior record, probation only! You will get offered counseling through victims advocate and nothing else! Being an older car, I doubt you will get anything from your insurance carrier. Good thing though, is that you recovered your vehicle! Good luck with the rest!

I had a Honda Accord that got stolen once. The police really don't care. I was following it down the road and they would NOT come and help get it. I have seen the car about 3 different times and every time the person spots me and takes off. I did have insurance and got a nice check for it. They will probably give you blue book but if you don't have any recent receipts of work done on the car, how will they know it's condition for value.

The insurance usually covers the car for about 2 weeks after a payment is late. Check with an attorney, it may be some kind of law. As far as they know it was stolen at 11:00 pm. The sad thing is there is 2 things I think the government needs to get control of in this country... The price of cold cereal and insurance companies. I actually fear insurance companies more than anything.

sorry for the lang, but i might have a location on my car! 1 of the girls staying with the neighbors next store came and knocked on my door, and said. hey i am gonna keep it real with you. your car is over by Aldis in some better care apartment lot or something, but she couldn't talk about it in front of the others so i found her Facebook and pmed her and i am waiting on a street name now. so wish me luck, and my insurance didn't cover it my insurance lapsed 12 hrs be4 it got stolen. so right now its lapsed if i find it and i drive it home can i get in trouble without calling the cops first. cause if they find out its lapsed they will have to tow it to the lot and to be honest i do not have any money right now. so what you think would happen if i found it drove it strait home and called the cops and told them were i found it. i all ready no the kid who did it. he is not gonna say nothing. but anyways waiting very anxiously to get my baby back its been 14 days and i was gonna put 500 dollars in fcp parts the next morning but it got stolen. i just hope its intact and they only took it for the stereo system sub woofer and items!

I don't know if this would work. If you know exactly where it is parked and you could scrape together $90.00 for a Triple A roadside/tow policy, you might call for a tow truck and have them pick up the car to deliver it to your address. They will need ID. Unless the thief puts up a hassle, you wouldn't involve the police in getting it back. I've used them several times for tows. They come out to the car very quickly. You meet them there. You get up to 4 tows in a year—each one up to 100 miles if necessary.
When you call for the tow, they'll ask you why you need to tow the car. A little fabrication here might go a long way.

Good luck.

It's your property which someone has without your permission! Call the cops and have them meet you there. They (the cops) will take care of the rest. I don't see why you would be held accountable for anything (under these circumstances). When my car was recovered, a police officer knocked on my door to tell me. He then drove me to the site and I drove away with my car.

well turns out the car is still stolen i went to the place the girl told me and it wasn't there i told her when i came back she said it got towed. i called all the tow places near that area, there was this 1 place who was acting like they had my car, they were acting very suspicious as soon as i told em when it got taken and that it was stolen. anyways who nos if this girl is telling the truth about the car. but i guess i have no choice but to sit back and wait. i might have to get a cheap honda now or something. as i had all the parts to fix my car, now i have to return them and save for a new car. the girl that came and told me everything was cooperating with me now shes not talking at all. but i got an officer looking in to it.
