thumping sound
After warming up my 2000 S80, for the first 10 minutes of driving it makes a thumping sound from the front passenger side tire, almost sounds like a flat tire. My husband noted that it did not make this noise before it was towed to dealer for ABS repairs.
I'm having the same issue and think I've narrowed it down to the front steering link. I just replaced the struts and think the steering link may have over extended and may not be aligned correctly. I can move it up and down with my hand and it makes a "clunk" sound.

I had the same clunking sound and found out after changing struts, steering links, and engine mounts that it was the ball joint on the passenger side. I checked this by jacking up the right side of the car and with the tire still on the car I checked for looseness by pushing and pulling on the tire. I pushed on the forward part of the tire while pulling on the rear part of the tire trying to make the tire turn. It made the clunk and I could see the ball joint was really loose. The ball joints are about 55 each and about a 3 hour job to change. I used the service bulletin from the safety recall back in 99 as a guide. The whole spindle with your rotor has to be taken off, which means driveshaft removal, lower strut removal, brake caliper removal, and steering arm removal. The ball joint is pressed into the bottom of the spindle, so it takes some persuasion to remove it. I used a regular hammer and tapped at the edge of the ball joint mount and eventually it popped out.
