These HU's are 15 year old tech. They aren't "update-able". They only play "audio" CD's.
Once an SC-900/901 leaves the Alpine plant, that's it. Mp3 and other formats won't read.
Just burn your disc in basic CD format, be sure you finalize and you should be good to go.
There are plenty of posts out there on the subject. Search and burn!

A lens cleaning disk didn't worked for me. Instead, clean the lens with an earbud and all your CD reading problem will be over. At least that whats happened to me. Check this topic to see some picture on how to find the lens:
