Octane Sensor?

Put Shell 95 in the S70 and she went like a dream. Yesterday, Caltex Woolworths was cheap so I put 25 ltrs of 95 in and the engine management fault light came on again, but the cars goes OK. Unlike all the other Volvos I have owned this one seemed to like the Shell best. My 740's and 240s' hated Shell. Who knows what we are getting.

They are doing this *save 8 cents on fuel, when you spend over $30 at Coles over here in Sydney. Don't know if that's happening up in the sunshine coast too? I think it's a load of crap. Fuel was $148 today. The 8 cents don't cut it :S

I'm not buying Caltex again; the Volvo dealer service manager who I've known for 20 years told me not to use it but being a stubborn old so and so I had to prove it for myself. Serves me right. I'm using Shell 95 in future and if i can't get it BP which has always been OK. I remembered that I put 7 eleven 'Bombay' petrol in my last car and it was contanimated and i contacted the RACQ was told i was the third one to complain about the same station. They denied it of course.
It's interesting to note that a news item today said that fuel price has been dropping during the last couple of weeks but not being passed on by the oil companies. 95 RON is $1.55 here today and we're getting the 8 cents too. Problem is we don't often spend $30 at Coles. It is nice to know that everybody including the Governments are trying to help us 'ostrayun families' (Julia speak) and that we have a few hundred public servants with no powers monitoring the fuel prices for us. How could we manage without them?

Absolutely. but why would the Gillard gov. care. I mean all they have been doing for the past 24 months is to get the carbon tax on the table :S I was told by my dad that Shell has always been very sustained with their quality of fuel. I suppose I will stick with that then
