Volvo 242DL 1984 Coupe ~ approx idea of fair price?

Post by KarlsRanch »

I'm currently looking at a 1984 Volvo 242 DL Coupe one owner 93,000 miles. It's been sitting around under cover for 11 years. It looks in great shape. The dealer is asking $2800- for it.

Am I getting ripped at this price?

I have no idea how much these are worth. The condition is really good. Looks like the wiring harness, water pump and belts were replaced before is was stored. The fluids all look fine. The steering doesn't have any slack, the transmission shifts smoothly and the breaks feel good.

Yes for a daily driver but this car many be nice candidate for a restoration. 11 yr old fluids must be replaced before the car can be driven.

Thanks, so you are saying in your opinion the price is too high for a daily driver?

$2800 is only worth it if all the fluid, hose, belts etc., etc., has been done and the car runs great. If YOU are supposed to do all that on your nickel, maybe $500 is fair, but only if the car runs.
