The car came with brand new ngk that the previous owner installed thinking that the car might start with new plugs. The fuel pump was broken so plugs didn't help. After getting the car running I replaced the plugs with new champion gaped to 0.28 and it still didn't help with only running on 3 cylinders.

I then swapped plugs again with the used plugs that are in my other good running v70xc , they are also ngk. Still only running on 3 cylinders. It doesn't matter what I change, check or replace it will still only run on 3,4 and 5 cylinders. I just don't get it anymore. What else controls cylinder firing/fuel? I swapped cam and crank sensors, maf sensor and still no change.

What I don't get is the guy a bought it from drove it to some local shop to get the rear brakes looked at because of a noise. They called him and asked how to start the car because it would just roll over and that was it. They ended up saying that the engine has low compression and that also why the rear brakes were bad, lol. Anyway I bought the car for $400 and towed it to my work.

I replaced the starter because it was burned out. It then would roll over but not start. I could hear the fuel pump come on but no pressure at the rail. Cut the hole in the floor removed the pump and found the fuel pump pressure hose broken off and just spraying fuel around inside the tank. I fixed it and now I have all kinds of pressure at the rail(50+psi) and it starts!!! It runs only on 3 cylinders though. That's what I don't get. How did he drive it there fine with a brake noise, fuel pump breaks and now it runs but only on 3 cylinders?

I was reading some more about the ETM and if it's bad it will shut down fuel injectors or the ecm will. I don't have any stored codes for the ETM but still something to check into. I was reading on VADIS about the ETM replacement and it doesn't say anywhere about having to program the ETM? I have one from my other car that I would like to try but cannot afford to tow it somewhere to have it programmed.
