Parts on E-Bay - advice

Post by BarryG »

Hey, all,

I need a headlamp glass to replace a broken one (damn construction trucks on the highway!), and thought it could get expensive from a dealer. E-Bay was suggested, and sure enough, a few available so I bought one.

Which leads to the bigger question - I see there are scads of parts available if you search 'Volvo S70' in the parts section. Most do not appear to be OEM, and I wonder if there are any to avoid, from experience of you guys on this site. I need rotors and pads, my ABS module replaced/rebuilt, at the moment (as well as my speedo keeps on crapping out, so I guess some sensor needs to be replaced too).

Anyway, experiences, good or bad?

Thanks a lot.
Cheers
Barry

FCP Groton sells on eBay and I've bought from him there. Great parts, fast shipping, good prices...

Some have said that the Scantech lenses are a tad bit thinner glass than OEM, but I don't think anyone has actually taken any measurements. If one lens is busted, your best bet is to replace both lenses, otherwise it will be pretty noticeable that they are two different lenses. Look into getting some E-code lenses from FCP Groton.... nice lighting upgrade.

You can get your ABS module repaired by Victor at http://home.earthlink.net/~vicrocha/

The ABS module going out is most likely also affecting your speedometer.

For ordering other parts, FCP Groton is one of the better choices as previously mentioned.

Ditto to FCP Groton - have dropped about $600 for parts with them over the last couple of months. My experience was super, shipping was fast and I always got just what I ordered. We had a misunderstanding on one small order and they gave me a price break on the part and paid the shipping. I couldn't be more pleased.

Thanks a lot!
I had a suspicion my speedo may have gone on the fritz as part of the ABS problem. I'll get the ABS module first, then see if the problem persists (suspect it will :-( )

99% your speedo will come back when you get the ABS module repaired.
