Good Deal

I am very friendly with my local used car dealership and recently they got a 1995 850 GLT and I am in need of a new car. They told me they will sell it to me for $1200 if I purchase it before New Years. The car has 1 dent on the hood. It needs a new PNP switch but runs fine right now. The interior is good except for ripped seats. The car has 196,000 miles. What do you guys think?

Any running car for that price is a good deal. Bonus, it's an 850. Change all the fluids get a hood at pull-a-part if you like.

Sounds good, did you happen to look for oil leaking from the rear main seal? It seems to be the most common reason for someone selling/junking an 850. Mine has similar mileage and the PVC system was badly neglected when I got it. It has the leak, but it calmed quite a bit after I did the PVC system.

I test drove it for 90 minutes and nothing leaked and it ran great.

Great, If you don't have any history on the maintanance, I would do the PCV system when you can. If it has never been done, it's past due at 196,000. Timing belt etc...

from what I can tell the engine has been well taken care of, the timing belt was done at 165,500 miles. They bought it from an auction with no idea on the history.
