I think I destroyed my radio's display...

For a while now I've been having to put up with the lack of any illumination from the display on the radio, making it impossible to see what station I'm listening too at night. After some reading and some studying of the electronics inside it, I decided to get to the burned out bulb by de-soldering the aluminum shroud that surrounds the LCD and covers the bulb that lights it.

In my haste to reach the offending bulb (which I could just see but not quite grab) I lifted up on the glass piece of the lcd panel. To my horror, it left a nice big black blotch in the middle of the display. This pretty much defeats the purpose of replacing the bulb, doesn't it....

Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix this? can I replace the LCD screen somehow? Am I going to need a new radio head unit altogether?

It's a 2000 volvo S70 with the SC-816 radio/cd/cassette (grey)

replacement SC-816 units are $40 to $150 on eBay.

Hmm, since shipping will be about $12-$15, my price would then be very fair
especially since this is a good one, everything works well and have the radio code!

I'd kind of like to avoid buying a new (used) one if I could... But if there's no other option I think I'll have to order one from ebay or from Jim...

Here's a quick question for Jim/JRL: does that price include shipping to southern Ontario, Canada?
