help repairing post-accident...front end

Quick history ... after searching for 6 weeks I finally found my 98 v70xc. I had to replace the hood and fender, but those were easy. And I'm loving this car!

Anyways, a week ago I was backed into by an suv in a parking lot. Damaged the hood (that I had just replaced), bumper cover, grill and radiator support. The later is my concern. I can't seem to find anything about replacing it.

I figure the headlights will have to come loose, and there are bolts on each side by the fenders, but is it that simple? Or am I missing more?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am about to get going on the same thing. It looks like the front bumper will also have to come off as there seems to be an attachment behind there in the middle. If I figure anything out in the next couple of days I will tell you.

If it is anything like my 850, there are lots of torx bolts along the bottom side, and some along the top also. Thre are probably rivits at the wheel wells that need to be drilled out and replaced with the volvo ones( from personal experiance). It shouldnt be difficult. Headlights may or may not have to be removed. Im sure you could find a bodyshop schematic online somehere that would show you for sure.

OK, I have just removed the radiator support. This is how I did it:

Take the bumper off using the two bolts at the bottom and drilling out the rivets at the wheel. I also had to remove an air guide on the lower part of my bumper, but this is not present on my n/a V70, so it might be turbo only. The bumper just then slides forward and off. (dont forget to unplug your fog lights if you have any.

I then remove the headlights. 3x 10mm bolts and they come out together with the indicator. Easy.

It is then a heap of 10mm bolts which are easy to get to on the front of the support, and two torx screws above the cooling fan. You cant miss them when everthing else is off.

Then you just have to unclip a few leads, the bonnet cord (simple to unclip) and it comes out.

You might have to take out the two bumper brackets to get the support out, I am not sure. But this is easy also. I had a fender off which helped me get it out.

Good luck, I would rate it as being much easier than I imagined. THe most difficult for me was drilling out the rivets, because I was too lazy to take the wheels off
