Dipstick tube "New vs Old" style

Post by dufferdude »

Well the old style oil dipstick handle broke so I went and purchased a new style dipstick, double seal type. After reading about needing a new style dipstick tube with the new dipstick i ordered one from IPD #9497550. The new style tube did not match up at all with the old style tube, #9207964, new style tube is longer too. The new style (9497550) tubes bracket where it attaches to the engine is half way down the tube. I searched for the old style part number, but came up with nothing. I'm confused now. 99 V70R I have pics on my phone but not sure how to post from it. Kind of figured out how to post a pic on imgur. thanks
Edit:
I think I need part #9497554

Sucks to hear new tube doesn't line up, sounds like a headache. My dipstick broke where you pull it from, I found a good one at a local JY. Little parts like that they usually just give away if you buy something else. I'd return what you bought and just find a good used one, good wrenching!!

Last year my dipstick broke from the part you pull it from. This is on 99 v70 t5. I bought a new dipstick from Volvo.

According to what I am reading, is the new dipstick longer or shorter when used with the old tube?

When i did my last oil change, the reading on the dipstick was proper when i filled it with 5.8 litres of oil.

Longer, I think. the dipstick doesn't seat all the way too.
the supposedly new tube is longer too.

Guy at IPD said that the new tubes bracket attaches to a different location on the engine, but I'm not seeing it.
