OK, well its hard to diagnose from a one line description.
My 740 was N/A so I'm not familiar with the 740's turbo configuration but many turbos have oil lines to lubricate the spindle bearings as well as coolant lines to keep the heat down.
It sounds like fluid cooling the turbo is leaking and the intake vacuum is sucking it into the air stream.
The oil directly contacts the moving parts and, so the seals can wear. The coolant, however, (I thought) simply cooled the turbo housing and never contacted any moving parts.
That might suggest you have a crack in the turbo housing.

Thanks, that shouldnt cause the no start right? However other symtoms are; Had the cam seal replaced (leaking), also timing belt. Due to the oil leaking (a lot) causing smoke &/or problems not found cat needed replaced to pass smog(Calif.) I did notice a clicking -poping when accelerating (new cat?) But another intermitent issue the ovrdrive some times would not enguage, the arrow would stay on or go out at wrong time . but eventually correct itself. The check eng lite came on sometimes then would go out. but that stoped after timing - cam seal- cat. work. But it was running good the last time I pulled in driveway. Till next day. There was gas but I put more , the fuel pump was loud so I replaced filter (quiet now) Still no start, replaced SP wires then dist. cap & rotor. Is fuel at reg. Bought spark tester, is spark. I feel click at radio suppressor. Tried spraing starter fluid while cranking no start. But 1st thing in moring when I turn over (1st couple of rotations) It sounds like it going to start, then not. Another bazzarr interminent issue the indecator lites did not lit when I tried it 2 different times but lit in between those times & now not a problem. I will take it back to mechanic that did timing but Id like to drive it but will tow if necessessary .
