Cracked cylinder head S60
We have either a blown head gasket and /or a cracked cylinder head on our 2002 S60 2.4 Turbo with 137K miles. Don't have it off yet. Mechanic, (highly recommended) says his machine shop guy can fix the head if it is cracked. Anyone have experience with this? This car has been a high maintenance money pit to say the least. Trying to decide if we should throw another 2K into it for this and a radiator replacement. Any advice will be great.

I haven't had a head welded but I have seen both steel and aluminium which have been welded, refitted and working like new.
Aluminium welding is a little more complex than steel but, when done by an experienced welder, makes for a good, strong repair.
You can read about the process here.

I think you can get a reconditioned head from clearwater for about $450. This would have all of the valves, seals etc. Seems like easy math to buy one from them.

My Volvo 2003 s60T has 103k miles. I have developed a slow coolant leak then my car shut off one night when parked. The next day on the way to work I seen a compression steam burst from under my hood. after work the cars oil temp skyrocketed hot and the computer read "no oil compression" and "low oil". I am fearing the worse of a blown gasket or cracked head. What now?
