Radio stuck in scan mode 92 volvo 240gl

I put in code for radio and now comes up EEE and is stuck in scan mode.. what do I do?

Are you sure you have the correct code? What did you push to "enter" the code after it was typed?

I just put in code and it said EEE ..did not hit anything to enter. Dont know what I was supposed to hit after the number.

If it is the TD613 you only need to enter the code, there is nothing else to press. If EEE comes up again you have probably entered the wrong code. EEE is displayed for 1 second and then "cod E". Enter the correct code.
After three unsuccessful coding attempts the set locks for 2 hours. The unit must be connected and turned on during this time. Enter the correct code again once the time has elapsed.

It is possible that the radio is a replacement and the code you have is incorrect. A Volvo dealer will give you the correct code if you give them the serial number from the radio. This is a free service.
