ABS light on; message says abs/ anti-skid service needed
My XC90 has had the warning light come on occasionally (2004 xc90 2.5T w/107 K miles). It is not always on. My indy mechanic hooked it up to a diagnostic computer and said that the fault is in the driver's side front ABS sensor. I have two questions: Is this a do-it-yourself fix (I have basic skills and have swapped out pads and rotors, but never anything to do with the brake system's electronics). Also, I read on this site (but now I cannot find it) about a service bulletin that indicates Volvo dealers will diagnose this problem free of charge (or at least that's how I interpreted it). Can anyone verify the service bulletin/provide the number?

Mannnnnn.....same thing is happening to my 2005 XC90. I can't help you with your question re service bulletin but for my issue it comes from the ABS hydraulics. And accordingly I have to change the whole ABS hydraulic component. It will cost thousands. At the moment I am holding it off just making sure that I do not drive fast on a wet road.
I am waiting for more ideas or cheaper options. I had my car checked for everything, brake pads, ABS, circuits near the brakes whatever....but didn't help.
So....I am still looking around to resolve this issue.
