Volvo 760 GLE (LHjet 2.2) Injection ECU no. & wiring diagram

Post by Ikenna351 »

Hi all,

Am a new member to this forum.

I own a 505 V6. Unfortunately, the injection ECU has failed. The part number of the ecu is Bosch 0280001507 (Jetronic). I have searched for it for a long time, but appears not to be available anymore. But since 1987 - 1990 Volvo 760 GLE & 780 had the same even-fire 2.8 PRV V6 engine in 505 V6, i checked the 760, and found out that it has the same EFI system with the 505 V6: LHjet2.2. Meaning that the '87 -'90 760 GLE & 780 injection ECU should work as a replacement of the ECU in the 505 V6, even if the ecu part numbers differ.

Now, for a start, how do i get wiring diagram of 760 GLE or 780 '87, 88,89 or '90 model with B280E PRV engine. I would need it to compare both the ZN3J (PRV in 505 V6) diagram. I may have to purchase the wiring loom of the 760 GLE (B280E) and swap it in the 505 V6 before i put the 760 B280E injection ECU, if need be.

Also, please who knows the B280E (760 GLE) injection ECU part number? I need the number to help me search for it, since Volvo 760 GLE its more available here in Abuja, Nigeria, where i stay.

Since i will be swapping in Volvo 760 GLE EFI system in my 505 V6, i will soon be a regular member of this forum.

Once again, what i need are as follows:
1. '87 - '90 engine - ecus wiring diagram of either 760 GLE or 780 (B280E - LHjet2.2).
2. Injection ECU part number of '87 - '90 760 GLE or 780.

Thanks Bill. you have saved my day. thats exactly what i need. with the diagram, I can build the engine harness without purchasing the 760 V6 factory harness. I have also gotten the 760 (B280E) injection ecu part no. from a friend which is Bosch 0 280 001 505. but then, it appears thatg i would also need to use the 760 V6 '88 ignition ecu. So I would need the part number as well. so please if anyone knows the no., it would be of great help to me. thanks.

Hi Bill,

I have gone through the diagram you attached & also compared it with the 505 V6 diagram and realised that both are the same. So I donot need to replace the wiring loom & ignition ecu in the car. All I need is to get a 760 inj ecu in good condition and plug it in.

Am very grateful for your assistance to me. Am now a happy man.

Ikenna, you are welcome. Now that you have a Peugeot/Volvo, or better still a Volvo/Peugeot, we look forward to hearing from you on the forum.

Hi Ikenna - I went of the French cars after having two Peugeots and a Citroen, all of which were new and all of which had endless problems during the first months. Peugeot gave us a new one the first time, (transmission) and then gave us our money back the second time.
My heart's always been Volvo, but not so keen on the 'new generation' after 2000. Also couldn't afford them, but I did have an S80 for a while. Saw my S70 advertised by an 82 year old man who bought it new at the local motor show, and has kept in under two blankets, inside his garage for its whole life. One look and I was 'a goner'! Sold to the big bald bloke! (me)
I am retired (like Bill?) and this car has given me a new lease on life. Not to mention the money off the mortgage that I got after trading the near new Frenchie.
The Volvo is as close to showroom condition as I can make it, and I aint finished yet! Keeps me well out of the wife's way too.
I have fitted front and rear park sensors, upgraded the headlight bulbs, bought a blutooth kit, cut, polished, buffed, cleaned and...............
It still remains the most comfortable car I have ever owned, except for my Lexus ES which was as comfy but didn't handle as well. (that disposal was another financial necessity).

Kev,

I can understand. In actual fact, Peugeots reliability and durability stopped with the end of 505 production. The susbsequent products were/are no longer engineered by their engineers, but by their accountants. Their shift from RWD to FWD was part of it.

Guys. What can you say about 960? Is it a reliable car? How good, bad or thirsty is the fuel consumption of the 960 V6? How reliable is the engine? Is it RWD? Am considering it as my next car, but would like to know if am on the safe side.
