hi im steven and i currently own a 94 850 turbo sedan automatic. i used to own a 93 850 glt. there are great cars with strong motors. one thing i have noticed the most with these cars is that they blow MAF sensors really easy. especially if you drive the car hard. (as i do) lol. 2 days into owning my 850 turbo , i floored it once and blew the MAF sensor. umm other than that you do need to take the car for a test drive to check to make sure the odometer actually works, my 850 glt's odometer stopped working at 286,586 miles, and my currently owned 850 turbo's odometer stopped working at 157,958. the odometer's on these things quit working quite frequently on alot of the 850's. they are well know for it. these cars will last you for a long time so much as you take care of them. my old 850 glt, (based on a guess on daily miles driven) lasted me till just over 300,000 miles. it had blown the transmission for a second time. so i ended up just junking the car. the motor still ran strong though. my 850 turbo that i own right now has not had any major issues. ive had it for quite a while now, and the only things ive had to replace on it were a blown tire lol, a bad MAF sensor, and a radiator. other than that the thing has been an angel to me

i highly suggest you buy the car. you wont be dissapointed. do have a mechanic check out the car first

also as for the hood hinges, check to see if you have a local pick a part in your area. you can get nearly anything for these cars for pennies on the dollar. also as for the radiator leaks. yes they are actually really common. both of my volvos had leaking radiators. every single friend i have that owns a volvo 850 has had to replace the radiator cause of it being cracked and or leaking. i got my radiator for $280. thats the only downside to these cars. they can be quite pricey when it comes to replacing parts on them

@ JMartin: I don't think it's a good idea to cut out your muffler. The lack of exhaust back pressure will likely cause your motor to burn the exhaust valves. Burnt valves mean new head.

@ Steven: The radiator are plastic and most usually go between 13 - 15 years. Also, you can check your actually mileage on the '93 - '95 with the OBD-I port under the hood.

Not sure what PCV kit I received from FCP last summer, but I really hope it doesn't fall apart.
