2000 S40 Electrical Problems?

Just switched the PNP switch today, Im praying this fixes the problem. Ill update if anything happens.

In other news the mechanic told me I should consider changing the timing belt, anyone know anything about that ? And when and how do I see signs that I need to change the timing belt

If this will be the very first timing belt change for a MY 2000 car - it is past due! I would do it now.

Changing of the timing gear components is Preventive Maintenance, not corrective maintenance, therefore Mileage and/or years in service (whichever comes first) will be your reference point.
You DO NOT WANT to wait for 'signs' because those are Very Expensive Signs (ouch...

ok so im gonna change the timing belt eventually but they want $560 for the job, so im gonna hold up on it for a little bit. My car ha sonly 75k miles but has been over 10 years.

Have any of you had the immobilizer light come on intermittently? (it is a orange light that is a picture of a car with a x through it) I have been having a no start issue along with this light coming on intermittently, I am a Volvo mechanic and Volvo just released a tech journal for a harness to put on the ignition, it basically adds a relay and ground for the ignition switch. ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/enesd/2010-02-09_160539_immo_light_s40.pdf
