I've replaced two tie rods, had an alignment, tires rebalanced and rotated and inspected for out of round, and broken belts, two new front CV shafts. I'm out of ideas.
We've checked the unit bearings as best we can but this car shimey's in your seat under acceleration, you can lift off the gas while it's shacking and it gets WAY better. It happens between 30 and 40mph. I don't hear any noises related to it either. Any thoughts? We also checked the wheels for being bent. Nothings out of whack.
Thanks in advance for your knowledge and willingness to share.

I would suggest you remove the propshaft (driveshaft) first, drive it for a while in FWD and go from there.
If you really don't need AWD leave it the way it is.
if it goes away then you have narrowed it down to the AWD system and it will be either the propshaft, the bevel gear or the viscous coupler all of which are very expensive to repair/replace on an older car

Engine mounts OK? But I sort of feel JRL's closer to the root cause.

I was thinking about that shaft too. I removed it when we bought the car to try and get better fuel mileage, then re-installed it for winter and never removed it again. I'll pull it out.
It's got all new motor mounts in the last 6 months too.

I was going to say if the front mount was totally destroyed, possibly...but if they're new, remove the shaft

I have about the same problem and getting ready to change control arms, sway bar links and tie rod ends. Do you get any wobble in the wheel going into a corner, like getting onto the interstate in a cloverleaf? Mine does more of the vibration anytime I accelerate at any speed. With good weather I hope to work on it this weekend and see what happens. Mine is only FWD, so no prop to remove. It just bugs me!
