Brown 79 240?

Post by Indy452 »

Was dark sparkly brown a real Volvo color on a 1979 240?

Real pretty actually but I have never seen a dark brown one....I have the option of purchasing a 1979 240 sedan and was wondering if the color was original? I think it is but not sure....It also has the tanish fawn colored interior....quite sharp actually.

Also wondering if the 79 240 model year was a fairly descent year for this model? I don't want a lemon but I do like to tinker and want something to drive to work three minutes from home...(yep three minutes)

What engine should this 240 have in it? The car has 128,000 original miles....pretty low IMO.

Look at the table on this web page:

http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/paint_colour_codes.shtml

and here:

https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... hp?t=17586

Check the color code number plate and see if it is the original color. There are a few browns listed there as original Volvo colors.

I'm not knowledgeable on the paint code sticker on a 240. On other Volvo's its under the hood on the fender or in a door.

There were a number of 240 models with different configurations. DO you know what trim level this is (e.g. DL, GT, etc)?
