help with a window

I need help with a 2002 S40 drivers window! The window goes down fine! It started doing this only a little but got worse as time went by. At first when bringing the window up when it hit the top there was a bad noise like gears stripping! Now when I attempt to bring the window up the grinding is there all of the time and I have to help the window up with my hand or it won't come up! I am afraid that at some point it won't come up at all! Is there a gear in there that I can change! I do not have a repair manual for this vehicle!
