100 to 1 odds that the problem is the Cardone MAF.

Hey MeanstreakOO7: I had the same problem with A-1 Cardone MAFs. They are garbage. I had 3 of these go bad in an 18 month period. The best price I found for a Bosch MAF was at eEuroparts. $155.00 for my 1998 S70 T5. Do yourself a favor and bite the bullet, buy a new Bosh MAF and be problem free. Best Regards, SpeedyPete

well luckily, ( I guess) the cardone maf is still under warranty. Autozone replaced it again. pulled 2 new codes p505,p172. I cleaned the Idle air control ( didn't seem very dirty) and I will put some new hose clamps tomorrow. The hose to the IAC seemed a little loose. but the car sounds great,surging @ idle is fixed for now till the MAF goes back on the fritz. Thanks Speedy for the tip on where to buy a Bosch MAF, I'm sure this one won't last too long.

Well, as I stated earlier, I had the same problem. Silence on the V70 forum left me wondering. So, I bought the genuine Volvo MAF from the dealer. I installed it, cleared the code, and it worked. No more fan continuing to run after shutdown, no more code. And when I recover from the price and can sit down again, I look forward to driving it again.
