Ground wire from fuel tank sending unit

1988 Volvo 760 Turbo Wagon (Estate) 236K miles
I have a fuel gauge that only works under certain weather conditions along with an in tank fuel pump that may not be working. Before removing the sender and fuel pump, where does the ground (earth) wire from the sending unit attach to the body? I want to rule out a bad ground before getting any deeper into this repair. I have already found the connector in the left side well under the removable floor section.

I think yours should have a similar arrangement - RWD, right?

Before 'digging' you may want to check the related fuses and relay socket contacts for integrity and cleanliness
