noisy lifter
Re: noisy lifter
Try the O-Rings, they have been known to work wonders on these engines. Are you sure it's the lifters and not the fuel injectors? Sometimes they make a clicking sound when working. Try sounding the engine with a screwdriver, put the tip on the engine and handle up to your ear. If the sound is the tappets, this will let you determine which is broken.

Go to a local Porsche, Ferrari shop and ask to see if you can buy this oil.
Swepco 306 10-30W or 15-40W

Swepco 503

Swepco Transmission 714 30W could be used not just as flush but as engine oil in high performance engines!

It will quiet them considerably (Everytime!) if not eliminate them. Every person except two that I have suggested it whether enthusiast or not have noticed a mark difference and have extended their oil change interval. The two were my mechanics but one did come around as he was given a car by his customer a ford with stuck lifters and short of dismantling the engine he tried everything else and then remembered the Swepco for some reason and purchased a case. Long story short it became unstuck and he had a free car and was quieter than ever. He is now a believer.

The shipping is expensive for the links but you've already tried a few things so... Porsche shops use it more than the Ferrari Guys so try a local one if possible or else order it on-line. You would think that lifters when cold are starved and clack but in your case your oil becomes thinner when warmed and may not be effective at that point for some odd reason. Use 15-40W if the temp in your area does not go below 36 Degrees Fahrenheit even though it still pours well at that point. Hope it works out for you!!!slimflex2 wrote:thanks man. l dont think we have a any ferrari shop over here.but can l get it from the link you sent to me right? l dont know if its a stuck lifter.can that be possibly be a broken lifter?because it gets louder when its warm.l can hear it when cold but have to get real close to the engine before hearing it.but when its warm it knocks its head off.

Exceptional Piece On Swepco! Read it all if you can.

BTW - The guys kept pushing each other for information data on oil analysis but they will find none as Swepco is spread out across heavy industries and government contracts as they have a program to track the oil analysis for each vehicle in each institution. Swepco is much more famous for it's roofing products as they are used extensively through out the world even by the Chinese in Beijing on the Great Hall of the People Building
Excerpt: One more thing. Did you know that the US Coast Guard uses only Swepco oil in all there vessels and vehicles. Also is used by World Wide Porsche, and many others. This oil has not been mass marketed like RP and others, but has been around seance 1938. So gaining HP and longevity is a plus. When I get some technical data sheets for you I will post them up.
