There is lots of OBDII diagnostic scanners out there for many different makes and models of cars priced between $30-$300, some also claiming to reset SRS and ABS lights (except Volvo). I already have an Innova 3100 scanner which does not have the airbag reset feature. Last time this SRS warning light came on 2 years ago it cost me $80.
Any expert advice on the cheapest scan tool out there that will clear the SRS light.

Short of a VIDA DICE unit, I'm not sure there is anything you can buy except that
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP

Autel eu702.
Does SRS, TCM and ABS codes/reset. Best money I ever spent on a tool, and I have all of the manufacturers files in it. So, I can use it for my Jeep, Chrysler and all of my friends cars.

Thanks Matty Moo, EU702 is the one I was thinking of getting, but thought may be someone would know of a cheaper tool that would do the job. Anyways you confirmed it for me, so I bit the bullet and ordered it online.
BTW the ABS module you rebuilt for me is working like a charm.

Hi, new to the forum. I need some help. Matty Moo, you seem to know about scanners. Will the EU702 work on an 04 C70? My SRS light came on because I unplugged it and I want ot reset it without going to the dealer. I did a bit of searching and also wanted to know if you know if there is a difference between the EU702 and the US 703? Thanks for any info you can offer me.

Just to inform people, the eu702 can be hard to come by.... But you can make the us703 work with a Volvo or any other make just by adding the manufacturers file to the scanner, it's easy and only takes a few minutes to upload files to the scanner. I was fortunate enough to find and save them when I found them.
For the money, it's a great scanner and you aren't limited to just one make with it.

Thanks Matty! As per his advice I bought a us703 and loaded the Volvo files on it. First use was to reset the SRS light on my 850. The electronics are the same on all four of the "Maxidiag" units (jp701, eu702, us703, fr704). Only difference is the software so simply load the proper ones on to the scanner. You just need a Windows box, USB cable and the files.

I am going to buy an Autel us703 to check/reset an SRS light and ABS light on my 2000 volvo S70. I came across this site http://www.totallydiagnostics.com/produ ... product=40 selling the software to upgrade to Autel JP701 EU702 US703 FR704 for E9.99 which is about $12.
Does anyone know of anywhere that has the software download for free? I don't mind spending $12 just thought I would check.
Also, I read a review on Amazon about installing the software:
"I wanted to comment on the Pc connection. The software will not install in Windows 7 by default, but you can get it to run in WinXP Mode. So if you have Win7 Ultimate or Professional you can download XP mode from Microsoft for free. If you are like me and have Home Premium, you can use VMWare Player which is also free. Once you install the software in XP mode or VMWare you can connect your scan tool and transfer files or print out recorded data."
Just to let anyone who is thinking about getting this know, here are instructions for Windows XP mode.
