1994 855 Turbo ignition coil

Post by TWMn »

So, I put in a FCP provided Volvo tune up kit with OEM plugs, wires, cap and rotor last fall. Also did the coil. Had the hood up yesterday and noticed a clicking sound coming from the coil. Checked last night and sure enough, it was arcing (faint blue light on the sides). So, since all these ignition parts are new, where should I start? Bad coil? No misfire codes yet. I've just been getting the intermittent P0326 (knock sensor). Don't think this is related.

If the coil is arcing, then it's a bad coil.

I had the same problem with my ignition coil three years ago, temporaly fixed with black silicone over the sparking edge, after cleaning with contact cleaner.

I replaced the oem coil with a MSD Blaster PN 8207 who buyed at Ebay for less than USD$ 50.00. (half price over the same IPD issue). This high performance coil brings a real Blue spark and better ignition.

Just have to buy the ignition cable between the coil and distribuitor at IPD (USD $12.95) or replace with the OEM coil for USD$132.00
