Try the online parts vendors that have ads on this site - they usually have good prices. Check out IPD, FCP, VolvoPartsOnline, etc.

In addition, call up Tasca Parts and ask for a quote from them.

Oh wow! FCP has the evap core for $75!!! That seems unbelievably cheap compared to every other one.

I would try to get some recommendations about different makes on this item. I have seen them for like $50 on eBay. But you do NOT want to be going back in there if the replacement fails in a year.

I had a customer come in the other day he had just replaced his ac compressor and could not figure out why it wasn't working, turns out he replaced the compressor before checking the relay. you should definitely put it under vacuum first, and make sure to use volvo compressor oil, but I would check the relay.

Well I tried to pressurize the system and it wouldn't hold pressure... I am assuming that means I have a leak. Correct?

Does the Compressor operate if there is no refrigerant in the system?

I would like to know if the compressor is working but my system is at 0 psi...

You have the right idea: even if the compressor is good, it won't engage without refrigerant in there. There may be a way around that (jumper the pressure switch?) but I am not familiar enough with the system.
