Axle replacement

Post by VolvoMonkey »

I've seen recommendations for raxles.com but they don't currently have an axle I can use right now. My front right CV joint is leaking and I'm starting to get clunking/ticking noises when making tight turns. So, I need to replace that axle. I'm driving a 1999 V70 XC

Any suggestions on brands?

OEM (Volvo) is my fallback position when Marty (Raxles)doesn't have one. Most of the local brand axles have not done well. If you are just waiting for Raxles to have it in stock a junkyard axle might get you through for a while.

Call up Axles Unlimited. I got my replacements from them (for the same reason as you, Raxles doesn't make XC) and have been very happy for tens of thousands of miles.

I talked to marty... What I gathered was that when people were returning their cores, they were giving him their failed Chinese ones that they gave their original Volvo back as a core... Ensure you actually have Volvo axles and send them to him. 2-3 days ground... Next day turn around and same 2-3 days ground back... Car will be up on blocks for a week vs. Changing with Chinese part and doing again the following year... If its bad enough 1 week of driving wifes car or renting will be worth it...

I haven't used him before, but am doing just that... Both sides.are shot!

I bought right side axle from FCP. Over 500 miles later it still works fine.
