I've got a 98 S70 GLT that had been showing abs/ tracs lights intermittently for a few months.
I sent the module off to Victor for repair and upon return and install and a short drive the abs/ tracs light went out as planned.
Ten minutes later they came back on, and this time the speedo died.
Took it to my car guy and 3 of 4 wheel sensors were showing codes.
Tested the wheel sensors at the abs plug and all were within spec.
Sat, re- sat the plugs numerous times. No change. Cleaned the contacts. No change.( no matter what I do, it seems the plug is just not as tight as I'd expect it to be).
Victor offered to test the unit, and found nothing wrong with it.
He sent me another one, and I've still got abs lights, NO tracs light, and no speedometer.
What now?
Thanks!
ABS repaired, lights still on. What next?

Check your axles for tightness

Three of four leads me to believe that something is going on with the harness. Is the locking mechanism on the large harness actually working and pulling/locking the harness into place? Or did the locking tabs break off and it is sitting loose?
I've swapped hundreds of them on our cars and It's tight every time. Just about zero play once it is locked into place.

Matty Moo, you Da ABS Master.
It WAS the locking mechanism. The shell was closing but the sliding tabs that lock the plug weren't sliding.
They SHOULD close and lock automatically but mine didn't. Whether they were broken or what I don't know. They don't look broken and I'm a very careful mechanic, but they sure weren't doing the job.
I manually pulled the slides out, sat the plug down (and this time it felt right) and then pushed them in by finger before closing the shell. The ABS light went out before I even left the garage.
I read and reviewed every single instruction about how to do this and Victor said to make sure the plug was in, but I SWEAR nobody said anything about making sure the SLIDES on the plug were working, until Matty Moo mentioned it. Do not assume that the slides work just because the shell closes.
Thanks Matty!

They just break. It's a 14 year old car and that part hasn't been touched before. There's dust built up between the slides and the harness and the plastic at the end of the slides isn't strong enough to overcome that force, so they snap off and won't move. Usually it happens when trying to open it versus closing it.jb24601 wrote:Matty Moo, you Da ABS Master.
