Transmission fluid

What to do if the transmission is too full? I realize it is not to be over full but its been this way for at least 2 years now. Just by chance could this be where my oil is going?

Ignore the cold mark. Check it in park after driving 10 minutes at least with the engine idling. The "hot" mark should be facing up towards the sky.

If its too full, release the plug under the transmission and drain it all out. Replace with 3.5 qts of Dexron-III fluid and measure from there.

Engine oil? That's something totally different.

The dipstick can be illusive. Search this forum for simple drain & fill.

If you have to do this I highly recommend stopping at your local Toyota dealership for some AFT. I got some synthetic 3309 compatable for 5.45 a quart at my local dealership. Tranny is shifting smoother than ever with only one drain and fill.
