Post by lp23294 »

Have a 2001 V70 Wagon and the sunroof wont open. have tried to lock/unlock the door via the key 3 times no differance. have tried to leave the window open and lock the car then open the car through the window which sets of the alarm. when the alarm goes off just the lights flash the siren does not go off.
but if i press the panic button on the alarm the siren does go off.
what else should i check?

I would suggest that you remove power to the Siren Control Module (SCM).
Look on the left end side of the dashboard there is a fuse panel. Remove fuse 11C/38 as per diagram.

Or look at the label under the cover to validate its location.
Then reset 3 times as you have mentioned.
Most likely the SCM sends false signals on the bus to the UEM module and this is disrupting overall operation. You may resume sunroof operation this way.
If your SCM module is original it needs replacement to regain full functionalities.

I had this problem on my 2001 S60. There was a communication problem between my modules. To correct this I had to turn the car off and let it sit off for 5 minutes, then restart it. This re-established the communication between my modules and everything worked. The dealer told me about this and I've done it probably 10 times.

When mine locked up, the overhead lights didnt work either - indicating a UEM issue.

Also, I think the lock/unlock cycle has to be done with the keyfob remote not the key itself.....I think

Has to be done with the KEY not the buttons on the fob
