Dashboard display dies completely V50 T5 2004+

Post by lessheldon »

Car starts normally, but after an indeterminate time all the dash displays disappear; sometimes engine management light is on, or then ABS, or Airbag etc.
At most extreme, car will then not start when next it has stopped. Nor can central locking be activated on driver's door.
Leave car for ten minutes then it appears to have reset itself.
I have two keys (with new batteries) and when one does not function, the other does and vice versa! But whichever is used the result is eventually the same.............
I am going out of my mind.
Local French garage has tried all the usual things - earthing, battery, connections etc but to no avail.
Is it the ignition system?
Can anyone help PLEASE
