Lower engine mount, would it fail?

Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.

It is original, but OLD.
Reading MVS posts suggest replacing the broken lower engine mount would take additional efforts, that is working the jacks, and reaching the bolts. Would replacing the aging mount now, before it fails, lessen the effort, hassle, and preventing...?

The newer ones depending on brand may not last as long as the OE (assuming it is the original) you have now. If it is not broken don't fix it. It is holding up it's end very well from the picture.

To directly answer OP's question: No, replacing the mount is not any harder if it has failed.

Overall it is actually a pretty simple procedure, even if the mount is totally broken down. Let sleeping dogs lie.

When the time comes, the replacement is VIN number specific as there are two distinctly different styles of engine mount and they will not both fit. I would go with blue box Volvo only. Pricey but known to be more durable than aftermarket replacements.
