uneven wear-760 inside R front tire...

Post by trevor »

i have pristine a 1989 760 turbo wagon with 228,000 mi. the right front tire has uneven wear on the inside of the tire. it takes about 15-20,000 miles to do so but no other tire on the car wears like this? it even stays amazingly straight going down the road? could this be a tie-rod, or toe-end? it can't be allignment because it stays so straight on the road. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem with a 960. My camber is out. the Casper and Toe must be good because this car also runs straight. Camber is not adjustable. I found an easy alteration on the internet to add camber adjustment. But before i do it I want to understand what happened. If you look at the wheel/Tire and compae to the others the camber is quite noticeable. Camber is how the tire is tilted from inside to out. The tire should sit horizontal. My tire is wearing on the inside. The top of the tire is tilted in at about a 20 degree angle. The factory spec is 2 degrees.
I'm told that there is a bushing that may be bad. This bushing can be seen. It's on the A-arm that attaches to the body and then the strut.
