'04 XC70 starting gremlin

I have a starting issue that is becoming more frequent.... at very random times, the car won't start when I turn the key...If I remove the key and re insert it, then it starts. OR it just cranks over and over like the fuel is shut off, but again I take the key out they re insert it, and it starts. sometimes I have to do it twice, or lock and unlock the doors....
Has anyone experienced this? My wife hasn't had it happen to her, which makes me think it may be in the key fob???

Does the remote part stay erect or is it flopping around?
The chip is in the remote body for the immobilizer and it is oriented to work when the remote body is inline with the key blade.
Once it starts the remote can droop.

Yes, the fob is flopping around....I never knew it needed to be aligned. good information! Thanks!
