So...
My 1985 Volvo 240 DL wagon is not running. Why not? The alternator is not charging the battery.
I thought I licked this problem 1000 miles ago by changing the connections at the alternator and the alternator itself. However, now the problem has come back. A new development: the alternator/battery light is not coming on. (It was before when the battery was not charging).
I know that the system won't charge properly unless this light works (Great design, Volvo!). I have checked the bulb and it is intact. So somewhere in the system lies the problem. Probably the result of wiring that was designed to be biodegradable and which has biodegraded (Another great design, Volvo!).
Does anyone have any idea where the problem might lie? I'm at my wit's end.
