Oil pan

2005 S60 2.5T
It looks like I may have an oil leak from the pan gasket. Does this sound feasable?
With that said, can the pan be removed without any obstacles?
Also, can someone suggest a chemical gasket other than Volvo's $28.00 tube?

While I haven't done it myself, I've read that you need to drop the subframe to get the pan off. Sounds like a b***er of a job.

from what I remember from the the 850 forum, it's best to go with the Volvo gasket. Another way to look at it: are you willing to risk your engine to save a few bucks?

Clean the engine to find the real source of the leak.
Permatex 515 or 518 are equivalent anarobic gasket makers and comes in several sizes/prices. #51813 50ml tube is a lifetime supply for most folks at 1/2 the price. #51517 is a 6ml tube that costs a few bucks and plenty for a sump seal job. Both are make for sealing flanges without gaskets, but also work with gaskets.
