Volvo Repair Database Replaced Driver's Leather Seat Cover -- 98 V70

The leather on the side bolster just near the kidney had gone through to the foam on my driver's seat. The bottom was starting to get a bit dodgy as well. After striking out on finding suitable replacement seats in the local pick 'n pull, I opted for the Elwood Industries replacement seat covers. The black although not an exact match to my dark charcoal, is practically speaking, so close as to be virtually unnoticeable as a different color. I opted to let my local upholstery shop put the covers on which they did for $125 (which I thought pretty reasonable given that I live in a very high cost part of the country). My upholstered praised the quality of Bob's kit and it looks and feels pretty darn good. I'll see if I can figure out how to get some before/after pics up. (Or I'll ask Matthew to do the dirty work).

Shipped to my door, I believe the seat back and bottom covers came to about $445.

All in all, not the cheapest repair out there, but it would appear to be a quality fix that should last a long time.

If you opt to self-install the kit check around first. It was nearly impossible to find a set of hog ring pliers in my locale and finding the actual hog rings locally was an impossibility.

All in all, the kit appears to be of high quality and the results are very pleasing.

Bob's (Elwood Industries') turn-around time was also impressive considering he hand fabricates the kits to order.

My upholstered did say there is a little hand stitching you have to do to get a really nice job that somehow did not seem to find its way into the directions supplied with the kit.

I've pulled several Volvo skins, I never seen any hand stiching.

Evan can you give the web site you got your seat covers from. I tried that Elwood Industries' and I went to strange land.
I did not see anything about seat covers.
1993 850 GLT 300,000 miles plus and still going.

So the kit is $445 and labor $125 = Total $570? Is that correct?
Expensive but looks good though.

PS: I just bought a standard seat cover from Autozone ($30) and cover the whole seat LOL.
