It will be prudent to replace the axle seals to stop fluid escaping and dirt getting in.

Reason the shaft wouldn't come out and I ended up somehow splitting it was I didn't take the saddle clamp off.
Photo 1 is how it looks now, photo 2 is how it came out of the car.
Hard works done the easy stuff is getting it all back together.
