Hello Gentlemen,
I need some guidance in determining the actual current value of my beloved car that was rear ended by a Chevy 1500 going 40mph while I was stopped to make a turn. The damage is contained to the passenger side rear. I'll post a picture.
I owned this amazing vehicle 5 months to the day and worked very hard to restore her to original spec, only for a drunk driving, drug dealer, who was due to be in court (going to jail) only 2 days later in another county. A miscarriage of justice IMHO.
Pretty certain they will total out my Volvo, I've read threads here with much more significant damage in similar accident.
My question is this. How can I accurately determine the value of this Volvo? When I went in for a buyers inspection the master tech at the dealership said that he's only seen 2 Volvos with this option (Rear Heated Seats) in 23 years of working on Volvos. He mentioned that it is very rare and asked me to call him if I was going to sell mine (he drove the same model '98 in silver BTW)
With this unique or rare feature I feel that my auto insurance needs to be aware of this before simply totalling out my s70 as if it were a simply a loaded GLT. I need any help you good folks can provide in helping me determine the value. I can't find anything on the net regarding the total cost of this feature at the time of sale or how this would translate to current value.
Details:
1998 S70 GLT
127,000 miles
Dark Blue with Dark leather Interior
Excellent Condition
No Moonroof
Pwr/ Heated front seats
Heated Rear Seats (amazing btw)
Thank you in advance for all your help, this forum made it possible for me to replace shocks, tie-rods, control arms and get this glorious vehicle up to spec to help me and my father with our poor health. To and from IL for appointments in safety and comfort. I am dismayed by what has happened, hands down the very best car I've ever owned and saved my life and my buddy's as well. Still runs like a top and straight as an arrow. Following the work I did, I had it aligned and she still works perfectly well save for a bit of crackling from a rear speaker, and obvious damage to the right rear tailights.
I'm in Madison and if any of your know someone who can do this type of work and get me back on the road with my beloved car please let me know. If I was driving my corolla (that I sold to get the Volvo) that day I'd not be here writing this now. Sincerely I thank you all for your help and advice. This was my very first Volvo and I'm sure all of you can relate to some degree as to how fond of it I am.
Sincerely,
Swamy

Unfortunately rarity of that option is not likely to be a factor the insurance company will recognize.
The work you have done may be something that will factor in.
